Learning how to evaluate work

Put students work in groups to look at 3 short assignments to decide which is best, mediocre and poor. Asked them to identify what is good and not so good and to identify what they think are the key aspects that make a good assignment. When they produce their own assignment students are asked to report what they think is good and not so good about it. In marking the tutor comments on the accuracy of the students’ judgements. A second assignment covers different subject but requires student to do same analysis , before submission they exchange it with another students and provide comments to each other which they can then use for revision.
