IF YOU STUDIED YOUR UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMME AT YORK ST JOHN UNIVERSITY OR FOUNDER COLLEGES, DID YOU GO ON TO POSTGRADUATE STUDY?

Yes, somewhere else.

JOB:

Solutions to Gender Statistics and Women Empowerment – Consultant

WHY HAVE YOU CHOSEN THIS PHOTO AS YOUR YSJ SNAPSHOT?

I value this photo because it was at a time when the Research and Development Team which I was in charge of, completed a major job of authoring a technical chapter in the 2024 African Innovation Outlook-4 with NEPAD. It was challenging as my team had to make a fresh follow up for AU Member state to submit missing data to enable the team achieve their objective and we did.

WHAT ARE YOUR FONDEST MEMORIES OF YORK ST JOHN UNIVERSITY?

I really liked and enjoyed discussing our findings with other fellow students. this enriched our understanding of the subject matter.. Our lead lecturer was very instrumental both professionally and progression in my respective areas of expertise.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YORK ST JOHN UNIVERSITY OR FOUNDER COLLEGES?

The University gave as a chance to study while working which made it more interesting as we applied the skills learnt there and then in our respective places of work.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING SINCE COMPLETING YOUR STUDIES?

I was busy supervising, coordination and managing different types of projects including Demographic and Health Survey, 2019 Population and Housing Census, Research Development and Experimental Survyes, Innovation Surveys and Development of 2017 Gender Data Sheet as well as 2018 Women and Men in Kenya Booklet.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR SPECIFIC COURSE?

The course made me focus on leadership, management and integrity. I got a chance to manage several projects both at my place of work and other organisations as well.

WHAT WERE THE BEST FEATURES OF YOUR COURSE?

What I likes most about the course was the topics on types of leadership and how they impact both as an individual or as a team. The course also made me learn to cope in different places and how to adjust to achieve maximum output.

WHAT ONE PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A CURRENT STUDENT, OR ONE ABOUT TO GRADUATE?

To work hard and remain focused.
