Class of 2017
BA (Hons) Theatre
IF YOU STUDIED YOUR UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMME AT YORK ST JOHN UNIVERSITY OR FOUNDER COLLEGES, DID YOU GO ON TO POSTGRADUATE STUDY?
Yes, at York St John University
JOB:
Radio Presenter – YorkMix Radio

WHY HAVE YOU CHOSEN THIS PHOTO AS YOUR YSJ SNAPSHOT?
The pictures show my endeavours from graduating YSJ to becoming a local Breakfast Show presenter on YorkMix Radio.
WHAT ARE YOUR FONDEST MEMORIES OF YORK ST JOHN UNIVERSITY?
My fondest memory is getting to perform with a group of wonderful women in our final year performance during our time on the Theatre course. We created a show to show to young people about body image – it was brilliant to be able to work with these amazing women & create a safe space for these young people to discuss real taboo subjects.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YORK ST JOHN UNIVERSITY OR FOUNDER COLLEGES?
I chose York St John after going to the open day and really feeling like a name and not a number, the surroundings are beautiful and York is such a wonderful place to be.
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING SINCE COMPLETING YOUR STUDIES?
Since completing my studies I became a local radio presenter here in York. I started out by winning a competition after my Masters in Applied Theatre – this saw me become the breakfast co-host on Minster FM. The station was taken over in 2020 so we all decided to start our own, 4 years later I am the breakfast presenter on YorkMix Radio and I am also a shareholder in the business.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR SPECIFIC COURSE?
I really wanted a well-rounded course, something that would encompass acting, performance, devising and writing and the Theatre course really did that.
WHAT WERE THE BEST FEATURES OF YOUR COURSE?
The tutors were brilliant, and the space and resource available to us as theatre students was great. To be able to really perform in professional spaces was a real bonus.
WHAT ONE PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A CURRENT STUDENT, OR ONE ABOUT TO GRADUATE?
Enjoy it! Say yes as much as you can whilst you have the opportunity!
