IF YOU STUDIED YOUR UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMME AT YORK ST JOHN UNIVERSITY OR FOUNDER COLLEGES, DID YOU GO ON TO POSTGRADAUTE STUDY?
Yes, somewhere else.
WHY HAVE YOU CHOSEN THIS PHOTO AS YOUR YSJ SNAPSHOT?
I absolutely loved being at YSJ. The moment I joined the Volleyball team and went onto being social sec only enhanced my experience. As a 2020 graduate, I only wish I had longer to enjoy my time as a student! I urge anyone starting up at YSJ to give any society they can a try. I met people I’d never meet otherwise and made lifelong friends and memories.

WHY WOULD YOU RECOMMEND YSJ TO SOMEONE?
It’s a small community with a huge heart, you can go anywhere in the city and find a familiar face. I loved that about YSJ, it makes the jump from living at home way more enjoyable.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YORK ST JOHN UNIVERSITY OR FOUNDER COLLEGES?
I love the city and the vibe. It’s beautiful all year round and the University fits right into the heart of it.
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING SINCE COMPLETING YOUR STUDIES?
I have been an international teacher for 2 years in Brunei. I am going into a new job in July in the same position in Colombia. YSJ has got me into the fantastic position to be able to see the world and share my knowledge of literature/language. It has also shaped who I am as a person and gave me confidence I wouldn’t have gained anywhere else.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR SPECIFIC COURSE?
I wanted to become an English teacher, the freedom of being able to choose both the analytical side of English and the creative side, really drew me towards it.
WHAT WERE THE BEST FEATURES OF YOUR COURSE?
I loved the lectures, they were engaging and interesting. Supportive classmates and freedom of the creative writing side of my course helped my skills flourish.
HOW DID STUDYING AT YSJ HELP IN YOUR CAREER SEARCH/SUCCESS/CURRENT ROLE?
It helped shape who I am now, in all aspects! From the academic side to social.
WHAT ONE PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A CURRENT STUDENT, OR ONE ABOUT TO GRADUATE?
Take the risks, go out your way, do things you’re scared of or wouldn’t usually do because it pays off!
