WHAT ONE PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A CURRENT STUDENT, OR ONE ABOUT TO GRADUATE?

One piece of advice I would give to a current student or someone about to graduate is this: don’t wait until you feel “ready” to take the next step—start before you feel fully prepared.

It’s easy to believe that you need the perfect CV, more experience, or complete confidence before applying for jobs or pursuing opportunities. In reality, most people learn and grow after they take that first step. Apply for roles even if you don’t meet every requirement, reach out to professionals, and be open to trying different paths.

At the same time, make the most of the resources around you—your university’s career services, lecturers, and networking opportunities. These connections can open doors you might not find on your own. Don’t underestimate the value of internships, volunteering, or even small projects; they often lead to bigger opportunities.

Finally, remember that your first job doesn’t have to be your “forever” career. It’s just the beginning of your journey. Stay curious, keep learning, and be willing to adapt as you discover what truly suits you.
