WHY HAVE YOU CHOSEN THIS PHOTO AS YOUR YSJ SNAPSHOT?
This is my professional head shot, it represents the journey I took since graduation. The first time I was asked for a headshot I was like what, why do you want that from me. I know share my therapeutic knowledge regularly, but that feeling still hasn’t changed.
WHY WOULD YOU RECOMMEND YSJ TO SOMEONE?
York St John set me on a journey, it lead me to my first job, which has lead me to where I am today. It taught me critical thinking and I completed my undergrad without Google!
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YORK ST JOHN UNIVERSITY OR FOUNDER COLLEGES?
My friend asked if I wanted to go to York with her, she had an interview for teaching. Our plan was to go shopping after and get lunch. I saw the counselling stand and realised that’s what I need to do!
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING SINCE COMPLETING YOUR STUDIES?
I qualified as a counsellor, worked in student support. Did a post grad in leadership. Worked in the NHS then moved to the charity sector. Completed a masters in psychosexual therapy and I’m now head of counselling.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR SPECIFIC COURSE?
I wanted to do something with psychology, I applied for several psychology degrees. None at St Johns, but once I read the course leaflet I realised that’s what I’ve been looking for.
WHAT WERE THE BEST FEATURES OF YOUR COURSE?
The lecturers!

It gave me the basic knowledge I needed.
