I am a performer and a theatre maker, making performances that investigate our personal relationships with events in world history. I believe that this style of performance needs to be made so that audiences can reminisce, reflect, and then learn from the events that we have been through. Small personal stories are just as important as the big worldwide ones. Stories that often get forgotten or are unheard are the ones that can make the best theatre. As a theatre maker I create work that educates through various means of poignancy, comedy, and everything in between. Performances that take influence from a range of sources: live music, television, photographs, radio shows, newspaper articles and personal stories.
There is horror and devastation in the world but there is also beauty. We must show all aspects of life, but above all we must always tell the truth.
As third year Drama & Theatre BA (Hons) student at York St John University, once I have finished my degree, I wish to continue making professional work. Performances can always be developed and evolved; therefore, I will continue to work on past projects as well as new work being made. This is an avenue of my career that I will pursue as a Freelance Artist alongside working a full-time job. By applying for Guest Experience Jobs, I will be using many skills that I have gained within my drama training within the work environment. This career will allow me to pursue my love of working with people, whilst still being able dedicate time to making performances.
