Professional Development for Learning, Teaching and Research
Join members of the YSJ Anti-Racism and Decolonisation Community of Praxis (ARDP) for an in-person workshop, on campus in York (CD/003), from 2-3.30pm on Wednesday 4th June.
During this 90-minute workshop, we will work through the Decolonisation in Higher Education: Questions and Prompts (PDF) in small groups and discuss their implications for decolonisation within our respective schools, departments, directorates and/or specific areas of work at YSJ.
We will consider the possibilities and challenges associated with such a process of questioning, exploring how we might use this approach to deepen our thinking on decolonisation and put it into practice in our work. We will also spend some time considering what other questions we might ask ourselves and our students, and how these might vary according to one’s role, background, discipline and institutional context.
This session takes place in person in York, and builds on a similar session that was held at YSJ London in April. All York St John academic and professional services staff are welcome.
Please complete the ARDP sign-up form to be added to the calendar invite. You can also use this form to express interest in joining the ARDP (formerly Anti-Racist and Decolonial Pedagogies working group) going forward.
If you have any questions about the session, or about decolonisation at YSJ more broadly, please contact Lucy Potter (l.potter@yorksj.ac.uk) and/or Laura Key (l.key@yorksj.ac.uk), co-conveners of the ARDP and Discussing Decolonisation series.
