Where Ideas Grow, the creative writing blog for York St John students, calls for your submissions!
This blog is primarily for Creative Writing students studying at York St John University, however submissions from the other writers may be considered.
We are asking for all forms of writing be it poetry, non-fiction, short stories, or a tailored excerpt from a longer piece of fiction. The theme for this submission is Spring. Please take this theme as strongly or sparingly as you like.
- The word count for prose is 1000 words.
- The line count for poetry is 30 lines.
- The Spring theme should be incorporated into each piece.
- Your submission should be sent as a Microsoft Word document (.docx)
The end of the Spring theme is the Summer Solstice on 21 June 2023.
Please include:
- A related copyright-free image that we could use on the blog post and social media. This can be one of your own photographs, a branded graphic (such as Beyond the Walls branding) at around 1400 x 600px in size. Unsplash can be a useful source for photographs – send us a link to the page on Unsplash rather than the image so we can attribute the source on the blog post.
- A brief 50–70 word bio in the third person, including your name, location and your inspiration for the piece.
We look forward to reading your submissions! Please note not all submissions will be selected for publication on the blog.
All accepted work will be published as a post on the Where Ideas Grow blog (https://blog.yorksj.ac.uk/creativewriting/) and promoted with a post on social media.
