The Creative Corner is a dedicated area for the creative work of York St John University students from poetry and prose to reviews and flash fiction. Find our submission guidelines below.
Submissions Guidelines
Any and all submissions should be sent to The EdiTeam at whereideasgrowblog@gmail.com, in whatever format is most appropriate for your work (docx, pages, pdf, etc).
Please also include a short author bio (up to 50 words), and if you have any questions about submissions, just drop us an email. We aim to respond to all messages within 7 days.
PROSE & POETRY
500 – 1,500 words for any longer fiction or non-fiction.
50 – 100 words for any flash fiction.
Up to 100 lines of poetry.
REVIEWS AND RESPONSES
For book (or other) review submissions, please include the title, creator, and source. If you can link to anywhere to access or buy the text, even better! You can find more specifics on review submissions here.
If you’re submitting a response to a literature or publishing event, please include a link to the event’s website, or one of our posts if we’ve listed it in our Events.
For responses to Writing Prompts, you should include a link to the specific prompt. If you’d like, you can also write your response directly into the submission form on each prompt post.
GENERAL FORMATTING
We will do our best to preserve any formatting that is particularly important to your submission, but we can’t guarantee it will end up being exactly the same.
If you would like to include any images in your submission, you should provide a source reference, indicate where in the text they fit, and also attach them as files to your email (png, jpg, etc).
