Previous Employment

Sales Assistant and Key Holder- Sweets Galore, Metrocentre, Gateshead 2014- present

I have worked in a part time capacity at this incredibly fast paced, busy sweet shop in one of the UK’s biggest shopping centers for the last three years. I am a trusted key holder of the shop and am expected to both open up and lock up the shop, regularly by myself. My main roles whilst in this job have been cashiering on the tills, cash handling and banking at the end of the day, stock replenishment, conducting stock takes, product date checking and rotating, meeting and greeting customers, and handling any customer queries and complaints. Working within this environment has taught me an array of new skills and has enabled me to learn on my feet and take initiative in difficult situations. I am hoping to use the experience I have the further develop my abilities with your employment.

Hostess and Runner – The Ivy, St Helens square, York

Although being a part time job alongside my study, working in this fine dining restaurant environment as a hostess with the intention to greet guests as they enter has contributed and enhanced my communication and people skills. I am expected to make guest feel welcome and comfortable as soon as they step foot in the establishment. This experience has taught me to retain high energy, planning, thoroughness and people skills throughout long periods of time.

Drama Supply

Last Autumn I facilitated workshops at Clifton Green Primary School in York, I was working with 15 boys and 17 girls making a class of 32 Year three children ages 7 – 8. My objective was to engage young people in performance exploring their creativity, building confidence and learning new skills. This highlighted my passion for the subject as I gain such a positive feeling when watching the pupils come to life as a character and work as a team through their new knowledge and understanding.

Beverly Heron School of Dance

09-Jun-2018

Drama and Dance teacher

Within these sessions i would teach the syllabus of the ballet grades to the pupils ages 4-18. This experience taught me leadership skills, appropriate ways to communicate with children and suitable methods in order to keep the children engaged and focused on the task in a creative and fun manner. I also learned that my physicality had to be present in the space, often through using big gesture. This was due to the fact that the young teens and children radiate off my energy.

Wakefield Women’s prison

14-May-2018

Co facilitator of drama

I, along with three others conducted workshops in HM Prison New Hall, a closed category prison for female adults in Wakefield.
By being involved in this project and the community group, I became aware of how possible it is to create theatre outside of the mainstream traditional theatre or education space, I find the drama workshops, as well as their performances a fantastic way in order to develop the women’s self-worth, confidence and communication as a catalyst for them on the outside.
