LGBT History Month at YSJU: God’s Own Country, Special Screening (25 Feb)

Don’t miss a very special screening of God’s Own Country, introduced by our very own Saffron Vickers Walkling.

Monday 25th February, 17.30-19.30 in Fountains Lecture Theatre (FT002)

God’s Own Country

To launch our LGBT History Month book display, ILE and English Literature will be holding a screening of ‘God’s Own Country’ (dir. Francis Lee, 2017), a queer romance between a young farmer and a Romanian migrant worker set on a struggling farm in rural Yorkshire. The film will be introduced by Saffron Vickers Walkling, Senior Lecturer in English Literature. The screening is free of charge to all staff and students – just provide your YSJ email address while booking your free ticket.

Don’t forget to stop by Fountains Learning Centre to see our LGBT History Month book displays. From Monday 25th February-Friday 1st March there will be a display on the Ground Floor featuring fiction, non-fiction, plays, graphic novels and films from LGBT authors. There will also be a display of LGBT children’s books in the Schools Library on the First Floor throughout the month of February. All display items are available to borrow from ILE so please help yourselves. Further suggestions to diversify our collections are welcomed.
