Welcome to our Mentoring at York St John training and information pages for the ITE Mentor Development programme.

Thank you for agreeing to mentor for us during the academic year 2026-2027.  Our mentors are an invaluable part of our student teachers’ journeys to QTS.  All of us within the YSJ ITE partnership greatly appreciate the support, advice, time and expertise given by our mentors and our student teachers often remark that it is their mentor who has had the most influence on their success.

Mentor Training Pathways

Each of our student teachers will have a unique journey as they work towards QTS however we believe that they all deserve to have an equity of experience.  The mentor’s role is integral within this principle. High quality mentoring impacts significantly the experience of mentees and is a result of engagement with evidence informed practice.  Our mentor training pathways are designed to ensure that all mentors can access up-to-date research into meaningful mentoring practice that is apposite to their stage of experience.

Please look at the information contained within the table below to ascertain your Mentor Training Pathway for 2026-2027.  Once you determine your pathway, please click on the appropriate link and you will be taken to page containing further information.  That page will also contain a link to register your pathway via a Microsoft form. We would ask that you double check the email address that you are entering onto all forms, otherwise we will not be able to confirm your training as complete.

All mentors will complete a School Experience Phase Specific Mentoring module at the beginning of a placement. This is a combination of what was previously known as the School Experience Briefing and the Core training.  There is then additional training for those completely new to mentoring or if you have not mentored for us specifically before. Furthermore, we offer a suite of optional Mentor Toolkit materials for anyone who is interested in further developing their mentoring practice.

YOU WILL ONLY NEED TO REGISTER ONCE!
