‘Girl’

‘Girl’

Girl was a performance that i created as part of my independent practice as research project in March 2019. This performance has by far the biggest challenge as a theatre maker as I was making a work from scratch and struggled to figure out a conceptual framework. Girl focuses on body image and identity and uses elements of the theatre of the absurd.

My performance of ‘Girl’ was an enjoyable process as it allowed me to create theatre in a specific practice and has me to think about the current issues in society relating to body image and identity. This performance has been a big challenge as a theatre maker as I dealt with a subject that exposes my body and touches on subjects such as claustrophobia and mental health. As well as being a big challenge, it also has supported me in being more confident as a theatre maker and more able to create theatre out of my comfort zone and has allowed me to think more creatively for future works.
