Rejuvenate

‘Shakers ‘

Rejuvenate theatre are a new theatre formed in 2017. Our first production was an adaptation of John Gober’s classic comedy play Shakers. Shakers is a postmodern minimalist play that consists of the four characters Carol, Adele, Niki and Mel who work in a cocktail bar, “A bar that is worse than hell!”  The play is all about the lives that revolve around these four characters and the events that happen in the bar they work at. The play itself looks at serious subjects such as drinking culture, the working class, baby loss and friendships. As a company, we knew we had these subjects but we still wanted to keep that playfulness of comedy. We put our own twist on the play as we were inspired by the play that goes wrong. This allowed us as a company to create our own comical twist on the play and explore improvisation. I very much enjoyed working on this project as I got to adapt and play with pre-written text and work with fellow peers.
