Sheffield People’s Theatre

A Dream.’

Sheffield People’s Theatre (SPT) is a community theatre company for anyone aged 12+. Associated with Sheffield theatres the aim is to provide the people of Sheffield the opportunity to perform new work and to work with people in the theatre industry. In July 2016, I worked with SPT’s In Chris Bush’s  A Dream. A Dream has been called ‘a Shakespearean mash up’, as it follows the concept of Shakespeare’s  A midsummer nights dream, and making many other references to his others plays such as Romeo and Juliet, Much ado about nothing and Twelfth night. To this date, A Dream has been my favourite project to work on as I developed as a performer and work in a professional theatre setting.

“Considering this is a community theatre show with a cast of 100, the standard of acting is incredibly high. There’s certainly not a weak performance among them. Bush’s heartfelt and witty play is an absolute delight”- The stage

‘What we wished for’

I returned to SPT in 2017 and performed in Chris Bush’s What we wished for. This was an exciting new play which used the concept of the fairytale Little Red riding hood. Again, this play reference other fairytales such as Cinderella, Hazel and Gretel, and Snow White and the seven dwarfs. Like the year before, this show was an absolute joy to work on as I got to work with some fellow friends to create something fun and heartwarming.

“What wished for It’s a real joy to see a theatre so committed to strengthening its bonds with the local community. What We Wished For is genuinely inspiring”- The stage
