What is Celta?

 

The Certificate in English Language Teaching to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) is a qualification awarded by Cambridge Assessment English which gives you the theoretical understanding and practical training to enable you to confidently teach English language learners anywhere in the world.

All YSJ students, staff and alumni can take advantage of a 10% fee discount if they undertake the CELTA at YSJ.

All students and recent graduates (up to one year after graduation) of the school of Education, Language & Psychology, at York St John University are able to take the CELTA at YSJ completely free of charge. This is such a fantastic opportunity for our students!

The course is offered as either an intensive 4-week or part-time format. Details of upcoming courses at YSJ can be found on the university website, or email celta@yorksj.ac.uk for more information.

How to apply

To apply for this course, please download and complete the application form and pre-interview task below and return to celta@yorksj.ac.uk. We will also need a copy of an official photo ID such as your passport or driver’s license.

What happens next?

If the application and pre-interview task are successful, we will invite you for an interview. The interview will:

· last for approximately 45 minutes

· include a piece of live writing (timed writing task).

You may be interviewed in pairs or groups. We can offer online interviews if you cannot attend in person.

We will let you know the outcome of your interview. If you have been successful, you will receive an official acceptance letter offering you a place. This letter will include details on how to secure your place by paying a deposit.
