What did you do before then?
I worked as a Band 7 OT in a Wheelchair and Special Seating Service covering a complex paediatric and adult case load. I have also spent time in intermediate care, acute stroke and an equipment and adaptations service working predominantly with a palliative care case-load. I also completed moving and handling risk assessments and action plans and facilitated moving and handling training for formal and informal carers.
What are your professional and academic interests?
I’m interested in ADL equipment and adaptation assessment, provision and use including the effects, benefits and impact on patients and their carer’s.
What roles and responsibilities have you held (e.g. University/ Academic/ Professional)?
Senior Lecturer, Academic Tutor, co-facilitating moving and handling training as part of student’s mandatory training.
What topics do you mainly teach on?
Professional Skills and Reasoning Level 1 and 2 (including wheelchair workshops), Health Well-being and Participation Level 1.
What are your research interests?
As professional and academic interests though this may adapt / expand as I become more research active.
Outside work, what occupations do you enjoy participating in?
Reading: walking the dog: observing nature: listening to music: creative activities such as drawing, cross-stitch and making latch hook rugs.
