Hello!

Hello! My name is Rachael and I am currently a third-year student at York St John University studying Drama: Education and Community. I have always been involved in the arts in some capacity, whether it be through, music, art, or drama. I love being in a community setting and working with people from all walks of life, creating new connections and relationships. Through my degree I am fortunate enough to have been involved in a number of different projects and performance that range from community-based performances, to performances created in response to an experience I have had.

Before university, I lived abroad in the Middle East, giving me the opportunity to learn about many different cultures and approaches to life, due to being in an international setting. The experiences that I have had are ones that have shaped me into who I am today and give me an empathetic view on life. My aim for the future is to become a primary school teacher, with a specific focus on implementing drama and the creative subjects more into the curriculum, or more simply just bringing a more creative approach to children’s learning. Further on from that I would love to have my own Youth Theatre company focusing on children who are neglected or bullied.

On this website you can find my CV and personal statement. Alongside this you will find three descriptions of some of the projects that I have done whilst at university.

I hope you enjoy!

Rachael
