The portrait of Blossom – was an auto biographical independent project directed and created by myself. This project focused on the emotional responses from a miscarriage or child loss. The final performance included a short film in the style of a sit-down vlog during an emotional relapse, a metaphorical dance performed over an instrumental while holding a bunch of white flowers which represented the unborn child. The stage floor was littered with white petals to illustrate and bring the images from the screen to the live physical stage. The style of this project focused primarily on aesthetics and the visual metaphorical moments; spoken word was kept to a minimum as it wasn’t needed to create an impact of what my piece was trying to communicate. Two painting I did myself also was kept on display on the stage throughout the performance to represent the burial and the grief process. The audience was able to view the portraits in more detail once the performance ended. The performance showcased all the emotional turmoil grief directs in a beautiful naturalistic aesthetic environment.
