Academic Tuition meetings should provide an opportunity for you to get to know your tutees. They should also help to build a supportive relationship between you and individual tutees and among tutees in your tutor group, creating a sense of disciplinary identity and belonging from the start of their studies.
Academic Tutors are required to meet regularly with their tutees, both individually and in groups. The Academic Tutoring Syllabus requires a minimum of two individual meetings with each tutee each semester, and the provision of group tutorial meetings. The suggested Framework for Academic Tuition focuses on using Academic Tuition to support student transition and outlines a suggested pattern of meetings. The Framework also recommends two individual meetings per tutee each semester, but the number of group tutorial meetings varies from year to year and semester to semester.
The following sections provide guidance on organising and holding tutorial meetings with your tutees.
