YBS of YSJ

Working from home?!?! ??‍??

Hey YBS students???

How are we all finding this unusual time? I hope everyone is well, staying safe and managing to complete their assignments and for 3rd years…I hope the dreaded dissertation is still going ok but also I hope everyone is looking after themselves and taking some time to chill out.

No one could have ever predicted that semester 2 of 2020 would end like this but we are all in the same boat and I am sure we can all support each other in some way at this time. Always remember to ask for help if you need it and pester as many lecturers as you want because they are all still working. At the moment, I am trying to stay in a routine with my uni work so that I don’t fall behind but I was so pleased when we got a safety net as I can imagine everyone was! Me personally, I kinda like working from home as I used to commute, so I am saving 3 hours a day which I can now spend doing other things but I do miss my friends and the uni lifestyle ?????

My top tips that help me to work from home are…

? Having a quiet area where I can concentrate. This is my conservatory because I have made a desk in there and I like working in a light and bright environment!

?I find that having a treat to nibble on whilst studying works wonders to keep you powered up (although I am eating way too many bars of chocolate at the moment haha).

?I find that taking breaks and a little time out helps to refocus the mind and it also helps clear your head. This time can be difficult for so many reasons to us all and no one can really tell us what to do because it’s all affecting us in different ways but remember to look after yourself. I love listening to music, watching Netflix, sitting in the garden with a gin (after 5pm?). Also, I love going for runs and walks. I find I feel much better after taking time out!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my little blog post and I hope you all stay safe and do as well as you can finishing semester 2 ???? Let me know if I can do anything to help.

From your Chair of School – Evie ???
