Congratulations to Annabel, the winner of our library bookmark competition, and Ellie, whose design came in second place. Here’s what they said about their experience:

Annabel:

“I enjoyed taking part in the bookmark competition and appreciated the opportunity to create something for the library community. As a Fine Art student, I particularly enjoyed the process of painting the design and working within the small format of a bookmark. It was very rewarding to see the design develop from an initial idea into a finished piece, and I was delighted to find out that it had been selected as the winning entry. I hope that those who use the bookmark will enjoy the design, and that it brings a sense of character and creativity to their reading and research.”

Ellie:

“Originally, I did not plan on submitting into this competition. However, this process has offered a great outlet outside of my usual practice. Allowing me to experiment with a medium which was unfamiliar to me. I believe opportunities like these provide a really wonderful way to encourage students to try something new, regardless of their experience. For this reason alone, I highly recommend others take part. If not for the experience, then for a moment of fun.”
