A day in the life of a Law student
7.30am: My morning starts with stretches to get my body ready for the day, I have breakfast, usually porridge or oats as it releases energy throughout the day. I
listen to a podcast while getting ready as I find it helps my brain to take in information.
8.15am: I leave with some of my flat mates who also have a lecture at 9am. On the way we discuss upcoming work and things that we’re finding interesting on our course. On our way to campus, we pass by a local coffee shop and get something to keep us warm.
9am: My lecture starts and we build upon the reading we all did in advance. We consider how the concepts from the reading can apply to different situations that may have different facts. During the lecture, a question and answer session starts between students and the lecturer.
11am: My lecture finishes. I go to the Students’ Union with some friends from my course to have a coffee and discuss the lecture we just had.
12pm: My seminar starts. This is a chance to use concepts we have been taught in different situations giving us practical experiences. The tutor also explains more
specialist information about the legal profession.
1.30pm: My seminar finishes, and I head back to my flat, I walk through the city as it is nice to see York.
2pm: I get back to my flat and prepare lunch. As I’m cooking, I listen to one of my required readings through headphones as I find this quicker than reading.
3pm: After lunch, I get myself ready for rock climbing at Red Goat near my flat.
3.30pm: At Red Goat, I meet up with some friends from across various courses and we climb together and decompress.
5pm: After arriving home from rock climbing, I get cleaned up and start working on readings for an upcoming essay and exams. I use revision cards to memorise information that is difficult to retain.
8.30pm: I finish working and decide to socialise with my flatmates to calm my brain down before bed.
