What’s the difference between an Open Day and a Decision Day?

We know that choosing your university is a big decision, and our Decision Days are here to make that process easier for you. After you receive an offer to study here at York St John University, you will be invited to attend one of our Decision Days. We usually have three on-campus events and one online event.  

There are a few differences between our Open Day and Decision Day events. For example, our Decision Days are tailored events to help offer holders get more information about studying at York St John, find out about the community better and what being a student here would be like. This information will hopefully help you to make your decision to accept your offer from York St John. 

Here’s a breakdown of what you can do at our Decision Days: 

Get to know your subject area 

Throughout the day there will be dedicated subject sessions where you can learn more about your chosen subject area, see where you are going to be studying, and meet your tutors/academics before you start in September.  

Speak to current students 

Our student ambassadors will be on hand throughout the day to assist you with directions, and recommendations and to talk to someone in person about what it is like being a York St John student. 

Meet your potential coursemates 

People attending your chosen subject session will be students also wanting to study the same course as you. This will mean you will get the opportunity to chat with other students who have an interest in the same subject and the chance to meet your possible coursemates before your course starts in September.   

Take a tour of campus 

There will be campus tours running every 15 minutes throughout the day to show you around our beautiful site. These will be run by our student ambassadors so be sure to ask any questions you may have whilst on and off the tour. 

Speak to our specialist teams 

Our dedicated support teams from admissions, accommodation, student finance, wellbeing services and more will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. 

Take a look at our accommodation 

During the day we will have a selection of our undergraduate accommodation open so you can tour around your next home. Our partnership accommodation sites will also be open but be sure to check which ones are open before you head there.
