Five activities to do in York

Moving to university often means you are moving to a new city or in fact somewhere where you haven’t visited often. So, here are some of the great activities that you can do in York with either newfound friends or visitors.

Rainbows Ceramics

Located only a short walk away from the university, Rainbow Ceramics is a pottery painting activity which allows you to pick from a range of pottery starting from £12. Pick it, paint it, collect it. Simple. This is a great activity to get together with friends whilst having a catch up. Once painted your designs will be ready to collect in just one week after it has been glazed and fired.  They also do adult nights once a month where you may bring a bottle of wine and some nibbles.

Mini Golf

Only a bus ride away Puttstars near the LNER Community Stadium offers three courses as well as amusement games which can be enjoyed before or after games. After an intense game, you can even enjoy a game of pool, a bite to eat or a drink at the bar. Prices start from £9.00 per course, with course offers available.

Bowling

Located next to the LNER Community Stadium as well, you can definitely have a game night here. Hollywood Bowl has 24 lanes, an arcade, diner, pool tables and VIP lanes. Prices start from £6.00 per game depending on the time of day, and you can also enjoy student discount too. This isn’t the only bowling alley in York with another located at Clifton Moor.

Axe throwing

Yes. You read it correctly. Axe throwing. Located on Goodramgate, The Hilt offers a culinary experience alongside throwing axes. With 8 lanes of targets, you can come together with friends and family in an experience like no other. Starting from £25 you have 50 minutes of friendly competition after a safety briefing.

Escape Rooms

With five different escape rooms to choose from, including two rooms which mimic ‘Cluedo’. Each room takes around 60 minutes and is unique containing a range of puzzles, challenges and clues to help you escape.
