I chose York St John to study my undergraduate degree because of its reassuring admissions process and thanks to the faculty I met on my Decision Day. Learning is fulfilling and rewarding thanks to all of the equipment available. From office hours with personal tutors to help searching the library with academic liaison officers, it is easy to overcome any challenge you face.

During the course of my degree, there has been plenty memorable teaching experiences and standout moments. In my journey at YSJ, I have had so many engaging lectures, fun in seminars and fascinating group projects!
As a history student, modules I have taken such as “People and Nature: An Environmental History and Tudor Women” have been inspiring and challenging, and I’ve been able to create good relationships with lecturers and their support has helped my studies. Resources such as office hours, one-to-one feedback and mentoring that make a difference to every assignment I complete.
York St John University also offers a number of interactive and practical learning opportunities such as hands-on industry experience, placements in career settings, study abroad, research projects, and workshops that enhance learning beyond the classroom. Through all of these facilities, YSJ’s approach prepares you for future careers or further study.
Use of campus facilities is also extremely streamlined and accessible, and every student can benefit from them. Facilities like the library, study spaces, or specialised labs not only enhance the student experience but also engage you in realistic ways, perfect for future prospects.
Challenges and growth
During my first few months at university, I was challenged by things such as academic readings, critical thinking and essay writing. The teaching approach at YSJ meant that accessing help was super simple and accessible through things like tutor meetings, skills workshops and academic support. These services have contributed greatly to my personal and academic development because I can feel comfortable asking for help when I need it!
