A perfect day in York
Introduction
Hello, my name is Melody, and I’m a second-year creative writing student here at York St John. Are you a student who wants to explore the fabulous City of York? Well, as someone who did just that, I want to share some of my favourite activities I did during my three days in York before moving for Uni.

Activities
Sightseeing
Whilst there are many stuff to do in York, something you can do for free is go around sightseeing. During my days in York I made sure to explore key locations such as the minster gardens as well as the walls.
The York walls are the cornerstone stone of the city, not only can it be a useful shortcut to places, it’s also a chance to breathe in the full aesthetic of the city from higher ground. I mean it when I say that looking on York from up high is the only way to properly immerse yourself in the city.
Whilst I didn’t do it until I was living in the city, Bus Tours are also a good way to do some sightseeing, as they allow you to learn a lot about the city.
So, no matter how you choose to go sightseeing, I promise it’ll be worth it.

The Rail Museum
Something I did on my final day in York was visit the Rail Museum, which was a very fun experience. Not just because it was a fun experience, but also because it was right near the train station, which made it easy to get to.
It was a very informative visit, and my favourite trains I saw were the Japanese Bullet Train and the Flying Scotsman. I was able to look around the museum for hours until I needed to get the train home. So, believe me when I say it is absolutely a good place to visit York before if you’re new here.
Whilst there are many fun museums to go to if you’re on a time crunch, The Rail Museum is one I’d recommend to prioritise.

Pub And Restaurants
The Golden Fleece
And finally, for a pub recommendation. If you’re a big fan of all things spooky, there are many places I’d recommend checking out, but my top recommendation would have to be The Golden Fleece, known as one of the most haunted pubs in the UK.
With a skeleton known as Saul at the bar, feel free to grab a drink if a table’s free. Ultimately, though I’d recommend you book beforehand on the website, as if you want food and drink with friends, it can get pretty full fast.
If you want to learn more about the pub’s history, you can learn about it on the city’s many ghost walks. It’s such a fun location to explore, especially if you’re a first-time visitor.
So check it out if you dare.

Conclusion
Overall, there’s a lot to do in York in a day, but these are just some of my recommendations. I hope this has helped.
