Highlights from my year at YSJ!

Hi, I’m Keira, a second-year Politics and International Relations Student here at York St John University! I’m here to share my top 5 highlights of the year at YSJ!

Being a Student Ambassador!

Being a student ambassador is a highlight of my YSJ experience, meeting so many lovely people and making new friends! One of my favourite shifts as a YSJ Student Ambassador was helping at graduation! I had the opportunity to spend a couple of days in York Minster helping organise and prepare for graduation! It was an honour to be able to play a part in such a special day for so many graduates and their families! One of my favourite memories of the year!

York Christmas Markets!

York Christmas Markets are always a magical day out! I especially enjoyed visiting the markets with my friends and wandering around the various stalls! I’d recommend visiting on a weekday afternoon when the markets are at their quietest. This way you get more time to explore each stall! There’s something for everybody here! Try visiting a nearby coffee shop for a hot chocolate afterwards to warm up!

Finding New Study Spots!

This last year on campus has been really exciting with lots of renovation work, so I found so many new study spots! These lovely benches behind Temple Hall are my new favourite outdoor seating area! They’re especially good for when it rains, but I’d still like some fresh air! Another top spot is the two pods outside the new Design Centre – great for studying outside!

Legally Blonde the Musical!

Another highlight of my second-year at YSJ was seeing Legally Blonde the Musical on tour! The Grand Opera House in York City centre is only a 10-minute walk from campus and offers a variety of great shows throughout the year. We really enjoyed seeing this musical while the company was touring in York! We even had the opportunity to meet the two dogs starring in the show at the stage door!

Spring and Summer!

Everybody loves a good picnic with great picky bits, especially in the summer! On this day, we visited M&S before indulging in the best selection of picky bits ever! The museum gardens are a great place to picnic, with views of the river, boats, gardens and historic ruins! This is always a good idea when it’s a sunny day!

Hope you enjoyed the highlights of my second year at YSJ!
