Curriculum Vitae

I am  a confident and assertive young woman who is passionate when it comes to helping marginalised young people for the better. I have had a lot of experience in this industry learning new techniques and ways of dealing with troubled behaviour. I am very much a people person when it comes to communicating with others, never afraid to back down in crucial situations when my help is needed the most. I would love to be apart of benefiting marginalised young peoples lives, in an environment which promotes development and success not just for me, but the young people I’ll be involved with.

Work Experience:

Titus Salt School Dance Department

When I studied A level dance at secondary school I also volunteered to teach after school clubs for the younger years, to help improve their techniques. As well as this I choreographed a couple of the dances that where performed in the end of year show.  This helped me gain confidence in something I love doing, and also gave me experience with working with different age groups.

Kiplings Café Bar and Restaurant, Ilkley

WildWood Restaurant, Ilkley

WildWood Restaurant, York

The Cut and Craft, York

For just over 5 years I have worked continuously as a part time waitress, undertaking bar duties and serving duties. All including customer interaction, experience in answering customer inquiries over the phone, learning new skills such as using a coffee machine, and using tills. Most importantly it has given me 5 years of experience working with people from all different ages and backgrounds, and has made me more aware of how to deal in certain situations as well as situations under pressure.

Applefields,Secondary School

At York St John University I went on placement to a special needs secondary school ‘Apple fields’, for 6 weeks, doing an hours dance/movement class for the young people. These young people had a wide range of learning difficulties including down syndrome and autism, some a lot more severe then others. This really broadened my teaching knowledge on how to deal with these kind of young people, and how to get the best out of them. Including new techniques on how to approach, communicate and interact with young people with special needs.

Dance United

Dance United are a dance company based on creating projects from 5 weeks – 12 weeks long, for troubled young people ageing between 12-17. I have done multiple projects with this company, and love every second of it seeing young people grow and succeed in such a short space of time is so rewarding. A lot of these young people have either had bad upbringings, have some sort of special needs, are under CSE, or have very troubling behavior. From this I have a lot of knowledge in how to deal with these sort of young people.
