As a New Year begins at York St John University you cannot help but notice all the changes happening on campus. But it’s not just the buildings that are changing, the staff body is too. For a while now there have been adjustments to the University structure and 5th September marked York St John’s official unveiling of what is now called a ‘Distinctive and Resilient University’. This means a lot of things to a lot of people…but what does it mean to the Academic Development Team?
It means that our team has grown significantly and we have a few new faces in the office. To make sure you are up-to-date we thought we’d refresh your memory of what everyone does. Click the picture to find out where we all fit into the team!
Mandy Asghar is the Director of the Academic Development Directorate. Mandy influences the strategic direction of York St John University to ensure that students are provided with high quality, contemporary and evidence-informed learning experiences.
Victoria Carpenter, Head of Research Development, oversees research growth and development across the University, to ensure that it is embedded in academic practices.
John Rule is our Research Development Manager. He supports the development of staff and postgraduate research students’ research activity working collaboratively across the University.
Mike Calvert is the Social Innovation Developer within the Directorate. His role is to support the work of the University in achieving its goals in relation to social innovation.
Phil Vincent is the Technology Enhanced Learning Manager. His focus is to work across Schools to support the implementation of the Academic Strategy and contributing to the effective development and implementation of technology enhanced learning.
Rosie Hare and Emma Fletcher are both Technology Enhanced Learning Advisors. They proactively support and develop staff in using technology to enhance the student learning experience.
Sara Bath and Emma Sunley job share the role of Academic Development Co-ordinator. They are involved in the production and implementation of academic development projects and events, which aim to enhance learning experience and teaching practice across York St John.
Gabby Wilson is the Directorate’s Administrator. She works closely with the Directorate to provide administrative support with the organisation and marketing of events and conferences held by ADD.
Mark Dransfield and David Grey are the Directorate’s Educational Developers who will support the development of educational practice across the University, with particular responsibility for developing and further embedding our HEA-accredited CPD framework.
