Why have you chosen this photo as your YSJ snapshot?
Before starting my degree, I had a rough few years and made a lot of mistakes. To finally graduate inside the Minster was one of the proudest moments of my life and a new starting point for me.
What are your fondest memories of York St John University?
I made so many friends with whom I have the fondest memories. There is not one particular memory that I can say is the fondest, but my three years at YSJ cumulated in one perfect memory.
Why did you choose York St John University or founder colleges?
I chose to study occupational therapy as I was certain I wanted to work in healthcare and OT was the perfect fit for my passions, skills and values. York is such a beautiful city so I chose to study there to enjoy everything it had to offer.
What have you been doing since completing your studies?
Since completing my course, I worked as an occupational therapist in a dementia setting, before moving on to working in a community mental health team which I now manage! My plans for the future are to complete my Masters and continue a career in healthcare management and leadership. My time at York St John inspired me to pursue this career path and helped me to identify what matters most to me.
What one piece of advice would you give to a current student, or one about to graduate?
My advice would be to enjoy every moment. Take in the ups and downs and don’t sweat the small stuff. Use your time as a student to find who you are and what matters to you.
