Happy memories of the old tennis court which I played on many times between 1964/7.The bursar ,Stanley Watkins lived in a room overlooking the court and his face was often to be seen at his window watching the games.We had a strong tennis team and played matches against other northern universities and colleges at Hull Road. Stanley kindly lent us the college 7 seater vehicle for away matches and on one occasion we had a puncture on the way.Two of the team changed the wheel why the rest of us went into the nearby pub to pass the time .The next morning a member of the maintenence staff backed the vehicle out of the garage and the wheel fell off ! We won the match comfortably ! We had a strong team which returned safely to college.luckily !!
