Old Johns Weekend.
Old Johns is coming! March 6th – 8th, we are inviting all alumni back to York St John as an opportunity to reminisce about old times, meet the current students, see the changes on campus and if you’re an alumni member of a sport or society to try out your skills against our current group of students! Every year Old Johns weekend gets bigger and bigger as more people return to relive their student lives. It’s also a fantastic chance for our current Johns to hear about what life following YSJ is like and where people have ended up.
The event is one of our favourites in the Students’ Union calendar; the buzz it brings for both the current and alumni students is huge. It’s a chance for everyone to get competitive too – the rivalry between the sports teams is always fun to watch – our older alumni challenging our freshers on the sports field always makes good viewing!
This year’s event will again see the sports teams battle it out on our brand new facilities up at Haxby Road or on campus, there are numerous societies activities happening throughout the weekend as well as a chance to show off your singing skill at karaoke on Saturday night, which is still our famous £1 a pint night! Friday night is also filled with fun with games night in the Students Union. This year we will also be handing out a trophy to either the current or old johns depending who win the most matches! This will be presented by myself, the current President and our previous President, Adam McSkimming to represent the Old Johns.
We really hope to see you there and if you have any questions about the weekend, don’t hesitate to email me at l.jackson@yorksj.ac.uk.
Lots of YSJ love, as always, Laura Jackson, current YSJSU President
