Our York 10k 2024 team: introducing Joshua

With less than two months to go until the York 10k 2024, we’d like to introduce you to the team running for our alumni-funded scholarships. Anyone connected to York St John can join our team, including staff, current students and alumni.

In this blog, we’re introducing Joshua, a 2023 graduate from the York St John University Acting course.

What is your favourite memory connected to York St John?

My favourite memory of York St John would be performing my own theatrical adaptation of Pink Floyd’s The Wall in the Creative Centre main stage.

What has been the hardest part about training for the 10k so far?

Getting back into running for a start. I’m trying to run each day so it’s interesting to feel the physical and mental challenges that come with running.

What has been the best part about training for the 10k?

I have a lovely training run along the river Thames up to Battersea Power Station on a lovely summer evening, so that’s definitely been a highlight.

As part of the team, you are raising money for our alumni-funded scholarships. What motivates you to support our students most in need?

Being able to help those who are underrepresented access the same education I received as anyone should be able to access higher education no matter what background.

You can support Joshua and the wider team running the York 10k by donating to our campaign on JustGiving. We also have also been able to secure four extra tickets so there is still time to join our York 10k team by buying your York 10k ticket on our online store.
