Professor Dianne Willcocks: A York St John legacy

Since our founding in 1841, York St John has positively impacted a range of people. Whether this has been through the generations of children taught by our graduates, the people affected by the work of our alumni across multiple industries, or through the experience of working at York St John itself. Our impact is hard to measure, but easy to see.

Professor Dianne Willcocks led York St John through a key part of our history. In 1999, Dianne became our first woman principal in 160 years. In 2006, she led our transition into York St John University. Having dedicated years of her professional life to the development of York St John, Dianne has taken a further step to ensure the future of our university by deciding to leave a gift in her will.

Make a real difference

You can make a real difference by leaving a gift to York St John University. Society will always need teachers, health and medical professionals, artists and business leaders. As an organisation that has existed and developed since 1841, York St John has the experience to use your gift wisely. But, as a young growing university, they also have the aspiration to use it to truly support future students.

As the first Vice Chancellor of York St John, I would not ask you to make a gift in your will without making the same investment in the future myself. As an alum of York St John University, I am sure you would want to join me in making a real difference to young people and York St John.

Leaving a gift in your will to York St John will help sustain the opportunities that the University provides for students from a wide range of backgrounds. Regrettably not all those who could benefit from a Higher Education can do so because of financial constraints. Your gift can help the University continue to open its doors to as many people as possible.

I know that the gift I am leaving in my will also help secure the values I share with York St John. If you too choose to leave the University a legacy, I am sure that you will feel the same sense of satisfaction that I did from making a commitment to shape the future for the better.

By leaving a gift in her will, Dianne is continuing her educational legacy. The values she nurtured and continues to share with York St John will only be furthered by the gift she is leaving.
