The Copyright Licensing Agency have just released a new licence for the period 2016-19. In a nutshell, this licence allows the University to make ‘multiple copies’ of works for teaching purposes, either in print or for online reading lists which are attached to a specific module.
The new licence contains new terms which are more favourable than the previous licence. The headline news is that the copying extent limit has increased from 5% – or one chapter of a book or one journal article – to 10%. See the CLA HE Licence User Guidelines for further information (opens at the Quick Start Guide p. 5). You can also access the full text of the licence here.
Our Digital Scanning Service can make scans of book chapters and journal articles for module reading lists.
Please contact ILS for further advice or for any questions relating to copying under the CLA Licence.
