Professional Development for Learning, Teaching and Research
This session forms part of the CPD programme (research) for York St John University staff for the academic year 2023-24.

Session Overview: Knowledge exchange (KE) can be defined as any ‘collaborative, creative endeavour that translates knowledge and research into impact on society and the economy’. Examples include continuing professional development (CPD) and formal knowledge transfer including schemes such as the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), consultancy and contract research. KE can also include non-paid engagements with external organisation and in-kind working where university knowledge, facilities or experience is beneficial to the recipient.
Participation in KE can have a direct impact on the university through the receipt of funds and an increased profile in a field or discipline. It can also benefit the academic though increasing the impact of research, maintaining the relevance of teaching and though academic advancement.
