Giving back through mentoring and reviewing – Fellowship recognition

August 29 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

This session is designed to introduce the role and responsibilities of mentor and reviewer for those who would like to support others to achieve Fellowship recognition.

Why do people do this?

Our AHE accredited Fellowship scheme relies on a dedicated pool of colleagues who give up their time to mentor participants and review their submissions for Fellowship. It simply wouldn’t work without them. Anecdotal evidence suggests that our mentors and reviewers gain a lot from their engagement. Developing their networks across disciplines as well as being introduced to new ideas around teaching and supporting learning, from others’ practices, are two of the most commonly cited reasons that people continue to engage. Of course, there is also an enormous sense of satisfaction in being able to give back, through supporting other colleagues to gain recognition.

What’s in it for you?

Engaging in this type of activity is evidence of practice that extends significantly beyond direct teaching and/or direct support for learning (D3.3). Therefore, you can use evidence of  sustained engagement in this type of activity, for recognition at the level of Senior Fellow (D3). Recognition at this level is a requirement for some aspects of academic promotion.

Primary audience: New Mentors and Assessors

Pathway: DevP / ExpP

Registration

Please email Mark Dransfield (and Cc. TES) with details of the session title and date, in order to receive an Outlook invitation.
