HEA Principal Fellowship – developing and evidencing your impact

This session is led by Professor Fiona Smart, HEA Principal Fellow. Fiona retired in June 2021 as Head of the Department of Learning & Teaching Enhancement at Edinburgh Napier University, where she still supports colleagues aiming for Principal Fellowship. Fiona now works globally as an independent HE consultant and alongside her other significant projects, is a reviewer for AHE PF submissions.

In this session, attendees will:

1. Consider appropriate ‘case studies’ to use, remembering  the 5-7 year timeline suggested by AHE
2. Start thinking about how they might evidence their effectiveness (what types of evidence are assessors looking for?)
3. Hear about and explore segments of examples from other people’s submissions/practice, understanding how they have met the standards
4. Be introduced to ideas for developing a timeline and evaluation strategies.
