HEA Senior Fellowship – Considering ‘Leadership’ of Learning & Teaching
October 20, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

This session is designed to support colleagues who are either in the process of, or considering claiming for HEA Senior Fellowship (SFHEA) in the future. Many colleagues applying for SFHEA lead L&T initiatives from a non-managerial position and often struggle to articulate, or align their practice with the extroverted and ‘masculine’ approaches to leadership that are dominant in the literature.
The session will explore types of learning and teaching leadership, challenging some of the typical masculine approaches to leading. Colleagues will be introduced to alternative ‘humble’ leadership approaches and will be encouraged to reflect on their own style of leadership.
Facilitators
- Dr Pauline Couper – Associate Head, Geography & Liberal Arts, School of Humanities, YSJ
- Dr John Bostock, National Teaching Fellow, HEA Principal Fellow, Independent
- Dr Mark Dransfield, HEA Fellowship Scheme Lead, YSJ
