YSJ, Academic Development Programme
Professional Development for Learning, Teaching and Research
On welcoming your student into the room, you can immediately tell from their body language that something is wrong…they appear distracted, arms tightly closed with their eyes fixed on the carpet. The student looks up at you and shares what is distressing them with you.
You are the first person they have told…what are you going to do next?
This interactive workshop, delivered live and in-person by academic actors, will equip you with applicable situational management strategies. The strategies have been devised to specifically support the role of the tutor in working with students who present with differing severity levels of distress.
Where does the role of the tutor begin and close when presented with a student expressing distress?
Dates and times are still being negotiated, but we expect this session to run in Spring 2024.
