January 31 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am

For our first RIPPLE Reading Group of 2024, we will come together online to discuss compassionate pedagogies and whether it is too much to ask for a compassionate university in these neoliberal times.
To kickstart the discussion, we will consider a 2019 piece in the Australian Universities Review, titled: ‘Unveiling opportunities for hope: Is it too much to ask for a compassionate university?’ (Boyd & Grant, 2019).
If we have time, we will also delve into a 2023 article published by YSJ’s own Lorna Hamilton and Stephanie Petty, titled: ‘Compassionate pedagogy for neurodiversity in higher education: A conceptual analysis’ (Hamilton & Petty, 2023).
Please do join us, whether you have managed to do the reading in advance or not! All welcome; hot drinks encouraged.
RIPPLE (Research into Pedagogical Practice in Learning and Education) is co-convened by Emma Walker, Katherine Cross and Lucy Potter. If you haven’t come along before, please do join us online on 31 January and/or drop one of us an email to be added to the RIPPLE Team!
