This session forms part of the CPD programme (research) for York St John University staff for the academic year 2023-24.
The UK Council of Graduate Education (UKCGE) offers a Research Supervision Recognition Programme to support the professional development of research supervisors. The programme is built on their Good Supervisory Practice Framework (GSPF). To receive recognition, supervisors must demonstrate they meet threshold criteria in 10 areas of supervisory practice in the GSPF. Assessment is via a reflective account of practice by UKCGE. We are offering three sessions to support YJSU staff in applying for UKCGE recognition. The sessions are delivered by staff who have UKCGE recognition and are assessors for UKCGE. The sessions are an opportunity for discussion, guided support and reflection, and writing, and will cover the areas of the GSPF in order.
Session 1 (6 Dec 2023) – Professor Andy Hill
Session 2 (10 Jan 2024) – Professor Rob Edgar
Session 3 (14 Feb 2024) – Dr Sarah Mallinson-Howard
Each of the three sessions will be a similar opening (UKCGE, two recognition routes, etc) and then, focus on 3 of the 10 areas to illustrate the process / facilitate discussion. That way you can attend all sessions, or just one or two of them.
