January 19, 2022 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am

Girl with pen and paper

Facilitators: Michael Grugan and Jack Hagyard, Research Officers for Grants, from the Research Office

RDF Indicator: C3

Programme: CPD Programme 2021-22

Theme: YSJU Core Research Skills (Staff only)

Session Overview:

Funding Institutional is an online platform that staff and students can use to to help find current funding opportunities. The platform combines over 18,000 active funding opportunities and information on over 6.3 million award grants from a wide-range of funders. This active database is therefore a key tool that researchers can use to help facilitate the grant making process.

This CPD session will provide an introductory tutorial on how to: (a) set-up an funding institutional account; (b) search for active, accurate funding opportunities in a timely manner from over 4,300 government and private funding opportunities; and (b) identify research that has already been funded in your area of interest.

The session is intended to run as a ‘follow along’ tutorial. Attendees are therefore recommended to bring a laptop or tablet device (e.g., iPad) to the session.

Learning Outcomes:

Attendees will leave with: (a) a staff funding institutional account / login credentials; (b) an understanding of how to search for and identify bespoke and subject specific funding opportunities using funding institutional; (c) an understanding of how to search for previously awarded research projects using funding institutional; and (d) an understanding of how to search for and identify funder profiles. In sum, you will leave with an account and an understanding of how to use the range of search functions that funding institutional has to offer.
