Academic Tutoring covers everything from reactively helping students to addressing issues that impact their ability to study, to helping students focus on their future academic and professional growth. Yet as AT’s we rarely get time to reflect together on what the purpose of academic tutoring could or should be.
This session provides that opportunity for deep reflection. Using UKAT’s Continuum of Advising, you will explore your perspectives of the purpose of personal tutoring, and how these align with those of your students and the university. By exploring key highlights from the scholarship of advising and tutoring, we identify different approaches for delivering purposeful, impactful academic tutoring which may offer fresh insights for how you do academic tutoring within your programmes.
