What is an art director?
An Art Director designs the visuals for advertising campaigns, publications, films and other projects. Their duties include creating visual concepts, illustrating these concepts and managing their development. (Indeed UK, n.d.)
The role of an art director is essential for a fashion brand because by their advertising they promote the brand values, brand identities and personalities (Aaker, 1997). He is even more essential for a fashion brand when It is known that clothing is part of our identity, and fashion provides an obvious means for presenting the self in the most favourable way (Mair, 2018).
What does an art director do?
Art directors design all visual elements for their company and clients. They create storyboards or sketches to illustrate their concepts, and after approval, they coordinate and oversee development. Art directors typically focus on art direction for a specific industry. (Indeed UK, n.d).
They often work on advertising, publishing, film, television and theatre projects. These industries rely on art directors to create compelling, memorable visuals that reflect the brand and its projects.
