I had a writing assessment on Tuesday. I took it with more confident than pre-test because I had learned the academic writing style and reflected my faults which I should improve. Taking note of paper, I felt I could write good essay to write the draft smoothly. However, it was difficult and uncomfortable for me to work on essay because I could not think of appropriate words or grammars to explain my statements during the examination. Moreover, it made me be impatient so I could not complete my paper same as pre-assessment. I think that it was occurred because of lack of preparation especially experience to write essay or paper many times. Not to repeat this fault, I will keep practicing essay writing. Also, I noticed that I had to improve my reading skill to understand and find out correct and useful information to make concrete paper. To build up these skills, firstly, I will read easy books and train to write short essay.
This week, there was a listening test too. Before watching lecture, I feel anxious because I did not get used to note-making. It is difficult for me to do because I have to write in and listen to english at same time. As imagined, I could not catch essential words or figures. However classmates thought things which they heard each other so I could know the words I missed. This time, they help me but I must make good note by myself using TED or videos of YSJ.
Next week, I will take reading and speaking tests. Marking good score, I would like to review the video and note especially skimming and scanning skills and gestures. I cannot find out important information and main idea quickly so I have to spend time to understand the text. I think it is not efficient during the examination, so I need to develop my reading skills. Furthermore, I have noticed that gestures are an important part of presentation because it will show confidence and help to understand my statements. I have to improve not only my script or PPT but also gestures to become better presentation. To do this, I want to use TED as model of it. I could not satisfy my perform of writing assessment. Therefore in reading and speaking ones, I would like to prepare firmly and achieve good score.
