‘A Perfected Reality’ (2020)

‘A Perfected Reality’ was a physical theatre in education piece by Lydia Egglesden. The performance used physical theatre to explore social media addiction in a manner which was accessible and relatable to a young adult audience.

We performed the piece to one of York Theatre Royal’s Youth Theatre groups who responded positively, appreciating the fact that the performance wasn’t patronising towards their age group, unlike many other TIE pieces which they had seen.

I performed in ‘A Perfected Reality’  as part of an ensemble of four. To choreograph the piece Egglesden took inspiration from the work and techniques of Frantic Assembly and Pina Bausch.

Performing alongside and being directed by Lydia was an incredibly rewarding experience. Throughout the devising and rehearsal process she displayed confident leadership and a commitment to making her piece the best that it could be. Given the opportunity I would gladly work with Lydia again in the future.
