<Group project where we had to record sounds that would bring the silent clip to life. The three of us each recorded certain sounds and then I edited it together. The silent clip from the film ‘Whale Rider’. Because as a group we decided to do specific sounds individually, we would all have different safety precautions depending on what we recorded. For example I volunteered to record the sounds of the sea, so a hazard I had to investigate was water. Ryan was in charge of the car sounds so that was an individual hazard for his recording setting and Kristine used instruments to create the sound of the whale, so having surround sound could have interrupted the recordings she took, a precaution she had to be aware of. When the sounds needed had been recorded, I was sent them to start the edit, we found this easier as I was confident in the usage of Adobe Audition, so as I edited the piece the others would see if anything could be improved or changed. We chose to do a realistic take on what we would think the ‘Whale Rider’ clip audio would be. The clip is mainly constructed with ambient sound, only having one line of dialogue towards the end, so it was important to get detailed sounds that would help make it more believable. The final product came out really well, each sound fit the timing and successfully created an immersive video.>
